What this means is that a person is likely to develop different health issues arising from obesity.

These include diabetes, osteoarthritis, and mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

Others include, Increased mortality and a general lack of well-being in older adults.

Weight loss in the elderly can help reduce these effects in old age as these are also all associated with obesity.

This means that people that are obese when young are even more at risk for these comorbidities.

The thinking that there is reduced ability of older people to lose weight through dietary modification and increased exercise is a great misconception.
